New CD out soon.
Following their recent trip to the Ypres Salient, Ulster Grenadiers have produced a new CD to mark their trip.
This was the bands first trip outside of the UK and some members first time in France and Belgium as they followed the steps of their ancestor’s who made the ultimate sacrifice. Many of the band members say that it was their proudest time as a bandsman.
In preparation for their trip the band added a new set of music to their playlist with Wartime themes, plus the French national anthem which while difficult to learn as a band, it is a very enjoyable piece of music to play.
The band played with the greatest respect at some of the biggest WW1 cemeteries in the Salient including Tynecot which is pictured on the cover of the CD.
The pinnacle of the trip was the final parade through Menin gate where they played 2 slow paced tunes, Carrickfergus and I vow to thee my country to a packed audience.
It was an enjoyable change for the band to play in a more traditional style. They hope to have captured that on this CD as a memory for everyone involved in the trip and another way of sharing their music from ‘The Battlefield Tour’.
