**POSTPONED** Star of Down Maghera
With the death of Her Royal highness Queen Elizabeth II we have made a decision to postpone our parade as a mark of respect to her Majesty.
The Officers & Members of the Star of Down Maghera would like to send our deepest sympathy to the entire Royal family.
Queen Elizabeth II was a much-loved and respected monarch and a truly unique figure on the world stage.
Her Majesty reigned with exceptional dignity, honour and dedication throughout her remarkable 70 years on the thrown.
Many of us will simply not remember a time when she wasn’t our head of state, and she was a constant figure in every aspect of national life.
We would like to apologise to all bands and supporters who planned on attending our parade and hope you understand our decision
ANNUAL BAND PARADE
Star of Down FB Maghera will host their annual band parade in the seaside town of Newcastle on Saturday 10th September,
Having sadly lost one of our founding members Willie Annett to Motor Neuron Disease in January, the band has teamed up with the “Team Annett” Charity fundraising group formed by a dedicated bunch of Willies close friends to raise vital funds to assist the MND charity, the group has to date raised thousands of pounds which has been used to support various different charities, this year the chosen charity is the Daisy Lodge Children’s Cancer respite centre just outside Newcastle.
The band has set up a just giving site https://www.justgiving.com/crowd…/starofdownmaghera1975… with the aim of raising funds to support this vital service for Children with Cancer and their families. And all monies lifted on the night will be donated to this charity.
This year the parade will follow a different format, the Star of Down will this year parade the town first at 7.30pm sharp, the main parade will begin at latest 8.30pm led by Dunmore Silver band, it is vital that all bands are in place for 8.30pm and ready to parade, and late arriving bands will not be permitted to parade.
