Abraham Acton was an Orangeman from Whitehaven, Cumbria. His lodge was Bentnicks LOL171 which in later years became Whitehaven Loyal Sons of Ulster LOL 171. He was killed in action trying to save a fellow soldier during World War One and awarded the VC for his bravery.
